Use your remote from iTunes even while minimized
Makes your multimedia keyboard buttons work with iTunes when the program isn’t currently in focus, or is minimised.
It is common to find that, when it’s not maximised, iTunes will not recognise your media or gaming keyboard shortcuts as commands to play, pause, skip song, etc. This simple plug-in fixes the problem in most cases. It saves you having to bring iTunes up on screen each time you want to use the keys.
To use this plugin, simply copy the mmKeys.dll file into your plugins folder.
- For XP Users, this is found in “C:\Program Files\iTunes\Plug-ins”
- For Vista Users, it’s “C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes Plug-ins” and you may have to show hidden files (or use the search) in order to see the AppData folder. One commenter also reported that it works when put in “C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes Plug-ins”.
- For Windows 7 Users: follow Vista instructions above.
You also need to restart iTunes to load the dll.
You can download the file here.

Faulting application WINWORD.EXE faulting module mso.dll
If that title didn’t get your attention I don’t know what will. That is part of the error log I used today to repair a Microsoft Word 2007 error.
Whenever Word was closed, or you attempted to go into Word options, the <sarcasm>ultra helpful</sarcasm> error message would appear “Microsoft Office Word stopped working” and then close down. I hope they paid that guy by the character.
Also, when running a find in Excel, that same error happened. I went to the handy application logs and found that error. The resolution for this is really easy, if you look. The faulting module is the root cause of this issue MSO.DLL. To fix this you will want to go to C:\program Files\common file\Microsoft Shared\Office12 on a working computer and copy the MSO.DLL file to a thumb disk or to a network share. Then on the offending computer, copy that file down to the same path. Issue resolved. No muss no fuss. No Registry entries modifications like some people suggested.
I do recommend making sure that the version and updates are the same between the two computers. One more note. If you are using Office 2003, the directory will be Office11 instead of 12.

Vista Update Error 0×80070424 — Fix
I am not sure how many Vista users there are out there, but I have it installed on my work laptop. So far I have not been unhappy with the OS, but there are some things I am not all that excited about. But, the point of this post has noting to do with that.
Yesterday afternoon I rebooted my machine and had a security alert that my automatic update was not enabled. I was getting the following error: Error 0×80070424. I was searching around the net for a fix and kept being told to just re-register the wuauserv.dll. While that seemed like it worked, the next time I ran an update the error returned. But with some perseverance I fount the following fix that worked like a charm:
Start-run-type the following command and press enter
%SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\REGSVR32.EXE %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\WUAUENG.DLL
Or try this method:
1. Click on Start, and then click Run.
2. Type cmd in the Open box to get a DOS prompt.
3. Type net stop wuauserv and press Enter.
4.Now delete (or put in recycle bin) the contents of
C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution (but not the SoftwareDistribution folder)
(doesn’t matter if some will not go)
5. Type net start wuauserv at the command prompt, and
press Enter.
6. Now try Windows Update again.
