Panda Cloud Antivirus
How does an antivirus program that you never have to update sound? To me it sounds like a winner. That is what Panda is trying with it’s new Cloud Antivirus.
I have recently installed it and have been pretty happy over all. I have not noticed any performance hit at all, in fact, since I have removed my other application, I have found my system running better.
Since it is a cloud application, it takes all of the guess work out of what to do, though you can set it to notify you for action instead of automatically correcting the issue. Also, the cloud functionality allows it to react quicker to new and emerging threats.
The only drawback I have found is there is no option for scheduled scanning, but it does advertise that it runs real time scans on any file you open or run.
Please realize I have this on a machine that I do not keep anything important on, just for a bit more protection. Until you are sure something like this does work, keep it as separated from all important computers you can.

Safely type email on your iPhone
I do not personally own an iPhone, but I do keep my eye out on some of the interesting applications from time to time, and this is one that I would love to see on my beloved blackberry. Email n’ Walk.
What does this app do? Well, when it is activated, your camera display will be on your screen as you type an email. So you won’t step in that puddle, or run into someone as you are typing that important message.
The reviews I have seen says this app works as advertised with the one drawback it does not work on Text messages. Still, for 99 cents, you can’t put a price on your safety. Download can be found here
If you have used this application, please let me know how it works. And for Blackberry users, let me know if you find an app like this for that platform.

Single File Encryption
In today’s world, you always need to be wary of file and document security. If you are in the office, at home, or on the road, encryption of sensitive files is always recommended.
But what if you have one file that you want to secure and don’t want to do a full encryption on a thumb drive? Have I found a great FREE utility for you.
It goes by the name of Safe Calculator and it made by KrilSoftware. Not only does this application encrypt your file (admittedly probably very light encryption), but it hides it in absolutely plain sight.
Another advantage of this application is how portable it is. No install or registry entries required. You just copy the file to your drive (hard or thumb) and launch the application. After typing in the PIN and hitting MS (Memory Save) you go into safety mode. You can then add a single file, copy, or restore the file out of memory as simple as using a calculator. I admit it did take a moment or two to understand the functions, but the readme file explains it pretty well.
You read that right, a calculator. Even under close scrutiny it has all of the appearances of Windows Calculator. Hiding in plain sight, just in case that thumb disk is misplaced, stolen, or left hanging out of someone’s computer.
The only drawback I found was that you can only add one file into the protection. But for what it is designed for and the price, you can’t beat it.
